Mandate and Activity
KVK works according to its five mandates
i. Collaborate with the subject matter specialists of the State Agricutural Universities / Scientists of the Regional Research Station (NARP) and the State Extension Personnel in "On Farm Testing", refining and documenting technologies for developing region specific sustainable land use systems;
ii. Organise training to update the extension personnel within the areas of operation with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis;
iii. Organise long-term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the rural youths with emphasis on "learning by doing" for generating self- employment through institutional financing, and
iv. Organise front-line demonstrations in various crops to generate production data and feedback information.
v. Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technology for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.
Following are main activities to fulfill the mandates
i) Conducting PRA survey to find out problems related to agriculture.
ii) Selection of beneficiaries on the basis of survey .
iii) Conducting training for practicing farmers, rural youths and extension personnel.
iv) Conducting Frontline Demonstration on Oilseed, Pulses and Other than Oilseed and Pulse crops .
v) To test the technology from research centres by conducting On Farm Trials on farmers’ field .
vi) Conducting other extension activities like Field Day, Kisan Mela cum Exhibition, Technology week, Scientist visit to farmers field, Farmers Visit to KVKs, Diagnostic Visit, Soil test Campaign, Radio Talk etc.
